Tropical Storm Isabel will continue to move toward the northwest...
passing over Virginia overnight and across western Pennsylvania and
the eastern Great Lakes during Friday. Elsewhere a strong high
pressure system over northern New England will drift eastward.

...Wind forecast and impacts...

Although east winds have slackened off a bit during the past couple
of hours...sustained winds are expected to increase again to between
30 and 40 mph. Gusts between 40 and 50 mph remain possible
overnight into Friday morning. The winds will become southeast later
tonight and south on Friday as they gradually diminish. These

...Rainfall information...

The heaviest rainfall is forecast across the higher terrain of the
lower Hudson Valley and western Passaic and Bergen counties in New
Jersey...where 1 to 2 inches of rain is likely by days end Friday.
Three quarters of an inch to an inch of rain is expected for
portions in New York City...with lesser amounts across southern
Connecticut and Long Island. Localized urban and poor drainage
flooding is certainly a threat with some of the heavier bands of
rain.

...Storm tide forecast and impacts...

Tides currently around 2 feet above normal will gradually increase
to around 3 feet above normal by Friday afternoon. These tidal
departures are expected to cause minor coastal flooding around the
times of high tide overnight and minor to locally moderate coastal
flooding around the times of high tide Friday afternoon.
