the cry

the cry of an animal which is trembling. the cries which are
tremblings, swervings, engulfings, the cry "i love you" itself,
an utterance in the name of god, "the original form of the cry
may have been _ya-huva,_ if we believe in no thing; it is open
and the cry of entities are heard at a distance." and then
death: i feel it in my bones. i feel the crystals. i feel the
cry of the things in the world around us, from which everything
is discerned. on yom kippur, the Cry of god itself, that
original form which is the condition of prophecy.

the Cry, always at a distance
the boat, always among the waters
the present, always among presence
