Montreal

oddly enough, the upcoming ELO Conference occurs mainly a block
or so from where I lived for a number of months around 1980,
during the reign of Levesque and a deep referendum on Quebecois
separation. I made a number of pieces which were shown in
Toronto; I felt traumatized by the anti-semitism that was also
rampant, and I fell in love with Quebecois literature at the
same time - Chamberland, Brossard, Blais, Acquin, etc. So it's
odd to return to a kind of harrowing scene. Below is a cull.
The images are from Google. At this point, maybe forty years
later, I forget exact locations; I determined where I stayed
from the slope of Rue Sanguinet and Saint-Denis.
